Grade: 79.00 / 100.00
Nice work...getting closer.
Notes:
-Boards/ animatic is acceptable but needs a lot of work to be pro quality.
-Laura's Look-and-feel is Awesome.
-And the character designs are good too. Need Laura to get on the environment design to keep it all cohesive.
-Nice Caps!

MILESTONE #4 GRADING COMMENTS
Grade: 73.00 / 100.00
NightCap Milestone Notes:
-Get that new animatic done asap. Even though you had the specs of the current milestone met with the old timed animatic, you've got to keep iterating so that the final animatic is EXACTLY right.
-Laura to design environment/ room then eric can begin to model.
-make sure to submit animatic to moodle as well.
-Good improvement on the style guide look.

MILESTONE #5 GRADING COMMENTS
Grade: 76.00 / 100.00
Right now you're in the low C- range. We will adjust your grade based on what you present on Monday.
- Love Timmy Design
- Animatic is incomplete and not working
- Please put Brett on this task along with Max and Eric to get it up to snuff for monday
- Ryan solely focus on the rig
- style guide needs editing
- do not need so many words in style guide
- Don't need storyboard
- Laura
- finish color script
- nail down interior color design
UPGRADED CRITIQUE
- Improved animatic but still not where it needs to be.
- Brett needs to continue refining animatic ASAP! Talk to Pam for help before Tom Price meeting.
- Still need to see Laura's edited down style guide.
- Color still problematic.
- Have Laura talk to Peter.
- Please plan on Meeting with Tom Price on Thursday night as scheduled.

MILESTONE #6 GRADING COMMENTS
Grade: 65.00 / 100.00
CRITIQUE
Character Model/rig first pass failing
Character needs a lot of work to passable
Looked at Erik notes- model needs to be mostly redone not slight tweaks..first match silhouette then worry about topology
Pick rig and get it working.
Environment model 1st pass
(See line drawings of new environments in class)
To finish character model
Animation test walk/take/6 basic expressions-very weak, walk has no character, missing
Weight…Are you guys using th cryptic rig?
Model sheet of character expressions Good start

MILESTONE #8 GRADING COMMENTS
Grade: 60.00 / 100.00
Notes:
Character Model/RIG/Skin Final
Notes:
Character Model/RIG/Skin Final
- Render and model too low resolution. test at final resolution
- Feels blocky
- Add geometry for buttons, butt panel add details to mesh
- Ears are Low
- Head Topology needs work
- Add wrinkles to knees and elbows
- Morph Targets make it feel lifeless. Add bones
- Seems like a lack of communication between Eric and Ryan
- Don't believe the facial rig will do what you want. Make sure it will.
- Body rig is fine
- Overall Look of model weak does not look good for 720 p D
- shoulder deform weird
- UV wrap better but needs alot of work
- Keep Iterating on textures, not enough depth
- Huge concern with Max planning- design key poses, missing breakdowns
- okay
- Very nice
- Need a second NEW concept piece. Max’s room is nice.
- No Mood , mushy colors. Needs another pass.
- Need overall look and feel
- Character model needs more polish
- Facial model and rig needs more polish
MILESTONE #9 GRADING COMMENTS
Grade: 60.00/100.00
(Grade would have been 75.00 but I didn't send that comparison video on time)
Animatic- Okay. For next milestone, make it all one running animatic. Some very nice starts at blocking, but continue to push poses. Work on getting timing and weight in future iterations.
Texture- It is there, but feels very minimal. Not really up to senior level expectations. D
Animator Planning- Okay C+

MILESTONE #10 GRADING COMMENTS
_Grade: 79.00/100.00
Character Turn Around
1.Weird strobbing check please.
Animatic. Consider tweaking some of the shots to help with the drama. Do not go so far as to do full horror movie stuff as was suggested, but do tweak the camera placement in the 3d animatic. Make every shot look great.
Work on Timmy expressions. His model can go creepy if you are not careful.
Make sure you develop a milestone plan for Bret and the 2d work. Continue tweaking the look of the finished tentacle. Refer to the feedback that was given at the roll-out. Should the line work be blue? Try some options before you settle with that bright blue.
Make sure the color work does not get muddy. Use color for shadows, not black.
Textures could still use work.
Good work on upping the overall level of the work. Your team has clearly improved.
Presentation was fine. You probably did not need to show the rig and texture demo, as that was not part of the elements all teams discussed. Made your presentation lag a little bit.

PRESENTATION FEEDBACKS
“So towards the beginning there is one close up shot of the kid being scared. It goes by a little fast. I had a hard time feeling attached to the character until about halfway through. Then I became engaged and cared about him. Maybe linger on that shot more and show that he's afraid. That will give me enough time to relate to him and become attached to him.”
“A couple of things. I think it is impractical to change all of the assets of the environment. That is a lot of extra work. Work with the camera angle more to make the bathroom seem scarier at the beginning and, of course, not at the end. Maybe if you play with the angles you could play up the emotion. I would check out horror films or Hitchcock films and see how they do it. I was also going to say that the colors could be better. You use blacks. If you play with those colors more, you could show emotion and give it a better vibe. I'm not sure what you're going for, but those blacks come off as really CG. They don't exist in real life.”
“Great concept art. I love the vibrance of color. When you transitioned to 3D, you lost the saturation and vibrance. The other thing about the character -- the way he's stylized he won't need normal maps.”
“I was curious about your facial rig. I was wondering if it is possible to modify it as you're animating it, so you can push the shapes in the face…”
“It would be cool to have it [the tentacle] creepy looking at first. Maybe like the abyss. You don't want it too colorful at the beginning.”
“Have you done any studies of the lighting? Something you want to do is put a lot of emphasis on the lighting. Once you have the transition into 3D, you don't want the tentacle to feel completely out of the scene. If you keep it flat with lots of blacks and blues, it might make it pop a bit too much. Try to keep it consistent.”
“One other small thing, it may not impact you, but it is that your character is entirely symmetrical. You only have to do half of the face. That will leave you more space.”
“I saw that you had a diffuse and normal map. Are you doing any specular stuff?”
“I want to add on to what has been said. Don't go for a flatter look. You want to define the forms more. So I would say -- I'm not sure how far you are -- you could add way more polygons. It would look much better.”
